I write about videogames that I’m currently playing and my general thoughts on the industry as a casual enjoyer of the medium. A lot of what I write here are just my shower thoughts put to words so a formal language or format isn’t something that I try to adhere to with each post, I hope that this variety provides for an engaging experience for both you and myself; writing isn’t my forte but I enjoy the exercise and this Substack is a pet hobby. Please note that there is no fixed schedule so if you’d like to be notified about new posts please consider subscribing through the mailing list or RSS feed.
Along with gaming I like to write about general pop culture as it pertains to the internet. I try to stay out of the culture wars and keep my view limited to that of an outsider, however I enjoy reading the perspectives of other people like and unlike me who grew up in an online age so in turn I’d like to share my own insights and experiences on here when I can.
From time to time this page will feature guest posts from personal friends.
About me
I’m an engineer by trade from Ontario, Canada. Videogames have always been one of my regular hobbies and while I try to distance myself from the word “gamer” and the culture that’s often associated with it these days I’m still a participant, so here are my credentials:
I began playing videogames on the Nintendo 64 and grew up with Nintendo and Sony consoles/handhelds. In 2017 I switched to PC as my main system but I’ve recently switched back to home consoles with the Xbox. I enjoy action adventure games, platformers, RPGs, shooters and puzzle games primarily.
I love music and movies too and while I don’t want to shut out the possibility of writing about these topics in the future, I also don’t feel qualified to speak extensively about these more mature artforms beyond very general and probably misinformed opinion pieces.
